London guide.
Nikki Campbell and Sophie Coote – Co-founders and Creative Directors, SIR.
What's the first thing you do when you land?
We love to take advantage of the sauna at our hotel (or one nearby). The ultimate cure post long haul flight.
Where would you take a friend visiting for 48 hours?
East London. The restaurants, bars, vintage stores, parks and general vibe is immaculate.
Best hotel to stay in London?
We tend to stay in central London. Most recently we stayed at The Londoner which was super convenient. We are all about a traditional hotel with creature comforts.
Best Matcha in London?
We love Jenki, or Blank Street if you’re looking for a cult classic.
Best spot for a night out ?
Little Portland. A late night spot for after dinner drinks. Great vibe, great DJs.
What part of the city feels most inspiring to you?
East London. It has a bustling energy and diversity you can’t ignore!
Where are you ending the night in London ?
You’ll find us at the hotel bar for a night cap.
A restaurant you'll never get tired of in London?
Strakers. We held an event there a few years ago with Diana Bartlett and visit most trips. We also love The Fat Badger for Sunday roast. Cafe Cecilia and Brat are also always on the list.
Favourite place to shop?
We love vintage shopping in London. Selfridges (a must to see our pop up space) and Dover Street Market are also top of the list.
PACKING
Biggest mistake people make when packing?
Overpacking. We never travel light.
How do you avoid overpacking?
We tell ourselves every time we won’t, but it's inevitable. Less is more, and you end up rotating outfits mostly anyway. We also buy a lot of vintage when away, so avoiding overpacking means more room for the haul home.
What do you wear on the plane?
Black. Compression socks. Hoodie. Eye mask. Comfy pants and layering. It’s function over fashion – comfort first.
Favourite travel bag?
The new SIR. suede tote (coming soon) It fits everything, just like Mary Poppins, and that’s what we over packers need.
Do you have a travel uniform?
More so things we can’t travel without –
Hydrating skin care. Face mist. Lip gloss. Eye mask. Electrolytes. Vitamins. Socks and a portable charger.
BEAUTY
What beauty products are you taking on the plane?
My Copini blush and teddy never leave my hand bag. The best, quick, pick me up on the go.
One product you'd never fly without?
Skin design designer balm. It’s thick and hydrating and stays the whole flight.
How do you keep your skin looking good after long-haul flights?
It’s basic, but staying hydrated. No makeup in the air and always cleanse as soon as we land.
Favourite in-flight ritual? (beauty / wellness / sleep aid etc?)
All of it. Electrolytes. Vitamins. Melatonin. Red wine. A good book. A good movie.
No rules in the sky.
